B.Voc. (RENAL DIALYSIS TECHNOLOGY)

Course Significance:

Chronic renal diseases are emerging as a major health problem world over. In India the prevalence rate is reported as 17.2% and every year 1,20,000 new patients are likely to reach the end stage of renal diseases (ESRD). Hemodialysis is the most used modality of renal replacement therapy, primarily to provide an artificial replacement of lost kidney function, in people with renal failure. Therefore renal dialysis makes the difference between life and death for those who suffer from renal failure. The dialysis technicians administer this life sustaining procedure working closely with nurses and doctors as a part of the patient's treatment team. Dialysis technicians maintain and operate equipment used for dialysis and also prepare patients, give local anesthesia, monitor patient's progress and create written reports for the doctors.
